Baby’s First Christmas in the Studio | Twin Cities, Minnesota Family Photographer

We all know how much I LOVE photographing babies, and how much I love photographing NICU babies especially.  But when my NICU babies get to come home before Christmas AND I get to photograph them again, well that’s just down right the best Christmas present ever!  I saw this little guy back in October and I just cannot believe how much he’s grown.  He’s weighing in at 10lbs now!  And the most chill baby, I mean his parents are pretty cool so I’m sure it’s in his DNA.  So anyway sharing some sneak peeks here and I’ll be sure to post favorites on Facebook and there are sure to be a lot!  Stay tuned . . .

All Pink in the NICU | University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital NICU Photographer

I had the pleasure to meet this little beauty in the NICU.  She was born with a birth defect called Gastroschisis. The CDC describes “Gastroschisis as a birth defect of the abdominal (belly) wall. The baby’s intestines are found outside of the baby’s body, exiting through a hole beside the belly button. The hole can be small or large and sometimes other organs, such as the stomach and liver, can also be found outside of the baby’s body.”  Her surgery was already completed when I visited and I believe she was doing quite well.

Faith and Hope in the NICU | Minnesota NICU Photographer

This little guy was born early on the evening of September 5th. His mother was diagnosed with severe preeclampsia and at 28 weeks and 4 days needed to deliver due to the deterioration in her own health. Pregnant with twins; unfortunately his sister did not make it and had passed away in the womb about a month prior. Born at 1 lb 15 oz this cutie continues to be in the NICU. He has underwent one surgical procedure on his little stomach and the family is unsure of what else will be in store for their little guy.  I was so honored to give this family some photographs that can show their love for their beautiful little boy.  This family is a wonderful example of why I love doing what I do.  They have faith and a belief that he will grow and thrive into a healthy little boy.   There are not always happy endings in the NICU but there is so much hope that lives there and it warms my heart every time I go and photograph a new little fighter.  I don’t think I’ll ever stop doing this.

Saying Hi in the NICU | Minnesota NICU Photographer

This little guy unexpectedly came into the world on September 15  weighing 4lbs 4oz. He is currently doing well in the NICU and when I visited he was weighing about 6lbs!  I’m so blessed to meet these little ones.  I’m still editing their session but when I get to share images I cannot wait . . .

Gentle Giant in the NICU | Masonic Children’s Hospital NICU Photographer, Minneapolis Minnesota

This little big guy was born with a complex Congenital Heart Defect that was diagnosed at 20 weeks gestation.  Scheduled for at least 3 surgeries in his first few months of life he has shown his family that even the best laid plans can change at a moments notice.  Weighing more than 9 pounds he stands out against the majority of his peers in the NICU but his battle is just as big and it was my honor to capture this family’s sweet little hero’s brave story.
